Description
Genetic analysis of hatchery and natural salmon populations is used to address questions of population structure and gene flow. Harvest composition is determined in order to quantify effects on populations of interest. Genetic analysis is also used to reconstruct pedigrees that are used avoid inbreeding and preserve genetic diversity in management of captive brood programs. Such pedigrees used in other systems for parentage-based tagging and genetic mark-recapture studies that improve estimates of hatchery contribution to harvest, to natural reproduction, and of total spawner escapement.

Project is essential to monitor the genetic effects of fish under propagation.
