Description
Cowlitz Conservation District implemented this restoration project located on Delameter Creek, a tributary to the Cowlitz River near Castle Rock. This project encompassed 1.5 miles of Delameter Creek, and is on two EDT reaches including a tier 1 and a tier 2 reach. The project footprint was reduced because one landowner dropped out, but a third landowner opted in. This was all accounted for through project amendment process. The goal of this project was to improve instream conditions for salmonids by the addition of large woody debris and by providing a forested riparian zone. Large woody debris structures were constructed to provide needed bank support to slow down the sedimentation rates to the stream, to collect gravels, and provide habitat diversity. This project supports chinook, coho, chum, and steelhead.
Project Benefit
This restoration project encompassed 1.7 miles of Delameter Creek and provided habitat improvements by the addition of large woody debris and creating a forested riparian zone. Large woody debris structures were constructed to provide needed bank support to slow down the sedimentation rates to the stream, to collect gravels, and provide habitat diversity. This project supports Chinook, Coho, chum, and steelhead.
