Description    


This project was a qualitative assessment of the lower 4.5 miles of the Union River in order to identify and prioritize restoration actions. TFW surveys were completed, road crossings were assessed and resulted in a technical memorandum that included two conceptual designs. Unfortunately, the project final deliverable was significantly different than what was proposed and is further explained in the narrative section of this final report.
FY2014 PCSRF funds were spent within teh appropriate award window of the 2014 PCSRF award.

Project Benefit    


Develop a greater understanding of stream channel and floodplain conditions, and sediment processes in the lower 4.5 miles of the Union river in order to identify opportunities to effectively improve conditions for salmon. Identify areas where habitat conditions, for all salmon species and life stages, need improvement and protection in the lower 4.5 miles of the Union River. Investigate reconnection of floodplain (including existing wetlands) and reestablish natural river processes near the mouth of the Union River to improve juvenile rearing habitat.
