Description

The project acquired a permanent 35 acre conservation easement on a site that contains 2,680 ft of riverfront and high-quality riparian and floodplain habitat along the lower Twisp River in Okanogan County, Washington. The conservation easement restrictions include prohibitions on residential development, riparian vegetation removal, bank armoring, and other activities within riparian and floodplain habitat. By permanently protecting existing high-quality riparian and floodplain habitat, the area will continue to provide important salmon habitat functions in perpetuity. Listed species that benefit include spring Chinook, steelhead, and Bull Trout.

Project Benefit

Purchased a 35 acre conservation easement protecting forested floodplain habitat along the Twisp River, benefitting ESA-listed spring Chinook and steelhead.
