Description    


This project will take place in the Holman Flats area of the Skokomish South Fork. Excess sediment comes from impacted areas in the upper watershed such as the Holman Flats area. This area was logged and cleared and instream large woody debris (LWD) was removed in preparation for construction of a new reservoir. The reservoir was not built, which resulted in excess sedimentation and fish habitat degradation. This project will expand on the previously implemented and very successful South Fork LWD Enhancement Phase I and II Projects (PRISM # 06-2302 and 07-1657). This phase of the project will extend LWD work to include an additional engineered log jam installations and riparian planting. This project improved habitat for listed Chinook salmon, Steelhead, and Bulltrout.

Project Benefit    


The project installed 6 engineered log jams in the SF Skokomish River between RM 10.8 and 12.9 to restore floodplain resiliency and resistance to flow, and stream channel and bank stability to improve habitat and production for listed Chinook salmon, Steelhead and Bull Trout.
