Description

This application conducted a rapid bioassessment snorkel survey to quantify the abundance and distribution of juvenile salmonids within the Siuslaw River basin over the course of the late spring and summer. The project surveyded 250 miles of stream at the rate of $200/mile. Of the OWEB funds requested, 90% will be spent on the survey crews.

Project Benefit

By monitoring juvenile salmon and their habits a strategy can be applied from the results of this study to ensure that juvenile salmon have the optimal habitat and stream conditions in the Siuslaw Watershed. In the stream reaches where juvenile salmon seem to be lacking restoration techniques can be applied to provide additional more suitable habitat for juvenile salmon.
