Description    


This project completed an historic aerial photo assessment of changes in stream channel sinusity, length and meander pattern and associated riparian vegetation over time (1936-2000). The characterization will identify areas where the stream has been straightened and shortened, pattern of stream movement, dynamics of the channel and identification of factors causing the current degradation (bank erosion and down cutting) of the stream channel.

Project Benefit    


This project provides an evaluation of channel and riparian conditions along the Siuslaw River to inform future instream restoration activities that improve fish passage and habitat in the project area. While implementation of any restoration project resulting from this analysis will improve habitat conditions for all fish in the area, there are unspecified benefits to ESA-listed salmonids.
