Description

The Muckleshoot Tribe, enumerated, and estimated productivity of juvenile salmonids migrating out of the Greenwater River from January 17th through July 10th, 2020. The tribe also conducted spawning surveys Chinook salmon in the late summer and fall of 2020 to estimate potential egg deposition for brood year 2020.

In out-migration year 2020 the Greenwater River experienced 2 major flood events in early February that are perceived to have caused mass Chinook redd gravel scour. This is hypothesized base egg-to-emigrant survival rate estimated at .9% this indicates a dismal incubation period with redd gravel scouring from high flows.

Project Benefit

The purpose of the project is to estimate juvenile abundance of spring Chinook and coho salmon on even years (e.g. 2020, 2021, 2022, etc.) in Greenwater River.
