Description

The Webb Creek Restoration Project is located on Webb Creek, a tributary of the Sweetwater Creek within the Lapwai Creek watershed near Lewiston, Idaho. This project enhanced steelhead habitat through the relocation of a winter livestock feeding operation away from Webb Creek and its floodplain, to an upland area. Approximately 0.35 miles (1.4 acres) of Webb Creek was protected by removing livestock access from the stream and allowing the stream to access a clean floodplain. A 0.1 mile fence now protects 1.4 acres of riparian habitat. In the upland, a fence, feeding pad, water system and access road were installed, and 25 acres are managed for livestock. The project addressed steelhead limiting factors of instream aquatic habitat, high stream temperatures and excess sediment.

Project Benefit

Project addresses the following limiting factors identified in the Lapwai Creek watershed for steelhead habitat: In Stream Aquatic Habitat, High Stream temperatures, and excess sediment.
