Description
In 2022, this project conserved 22.51 acres of land on Nuka Island within Kachemak Bay State Park. Known as the Mikes Bay parcel, this property is adjacent to coastal eel grass beds and an anadromous river that provide important habitat for spawning and rearing salmon.
Project Benefit
This project will provide long-term habitat protection through fee or conservation easement acquisitions. Both fee and conservation easement acquisitions will effectively restrict development that is incompatible with the conservation values of the property and will maintain self-sustaining natural ecosystem functions and processes for the benefit of salmon and subsistence use Accomplishments
