The actual project implementation did not vary much from the proposed for this project. All proposed streams were surveyed as planned. The 2018 field season was not complicated by fires such as past years when reaches were not surveyed because of restricted access due to large fires. The survey approach for the most remote reaches including upper Dillon Creek and Clear Creek has changed where crews camped for several days in the field opposed to completing surveys in a single day. The extra time and overnight camping was determined to be the safest and most efficient approach to surveying the extremely remote reaches, but added time to the project.

Project Benefit

This project benefits adult summer Steelhead and spring Chinook by surveying for live fish when observed to ensure their abundance in our river system. Another benefit to this project is gathering Juvenile Coho distribution data as they are noted on the data sheets when they are observed. Contributing to a long term data set will enable us to see trends of salmonid population abundance over time.
