Description
A feasibility study and engineering design plan was produced to improve water efficiency to provide flows that best support all stages of spring-run Chinook salmon and steelhead.
Project Benefit
1) Reduced seepage losses from ditches; 2) improved DCID water use efficiency; 3) reduced quantity of water diverted from Deer Creek; 4) flows provided that best support all life stages of spring-run Chinook salmon and steelhead; 5) entire ditch system inspected and photo-documented; 6) compiled data aids in development of further field studies; 7) potential funding sources identified for DCID to implement next stages of the project.

Description and scope of the plan implemented | |
Produce a feasibility study and master plan to enable Deer Creek Irrigation District (DCID) to reduce seepage losses from its ditch and improve water use efficiency, thereby reducing the quantity of water diverted from Deer Creek to meet the needs of DCID members. DEC – 1.1, Develop and implement instream flow agreements with
the Deer Creek Irrigation District … designed to provide flows that
best support all life stages of spring run Chinook salmon and
steelhead. The agreements can include approaches such as
groundwater exchange, water leases, and other water management
