Description

100 percent build ready plans, designs and specifications have been created to remediate fish passage at Duffy Gulch and the Noyo River along the Skunk Train alignment.

Project Benefit

The proposed project intends to complete the fish passage designs that will subsequently result in the enhancement of these total barriers while increasing the length of spawning and rearing habitat available to salmonids by 9,900 feet.

Description and scope of the plan implemented
Noyo River as a key population to maintain or improve and includes a high priority task specific to the Noyo River watershed to “Fund activities to address sediment sources and barriers to Coho salmon passage on the California Western Railway right-of way”. Sedimentation and barriers are diminishing the quality of, and access to, spawning habitat. This task will be accomplished by addressing the two of the highest fish passage priorities associated with the California Western railway in the Noyo River watershed. The sites included in the proposal were identified in the CDFW funded 2013 assessment as inhibiting fish passage for both adult salmonids and all age classes of juveniles. The proposed project intends to complete the fish passage designs that will subsequently result in the enhancement of these total barriers while increasing the length of spawning and rearing habitat available to salmonids by 9,900 feet.
