Description

The Marble Gulch Instream Coho Habitat Enhancement Project treated a total of 1.72 miles of anadromous stream in the Marble Gulch watershed with 177 individual logs placed within 80 unique locations within the worksite. The addition of these structures will enhance spawning and rearing habitat by providing cover, increasing pool complexity, increasing pool depth and frequency, sorting and collecting spawning gravels, increasing the quality and quantity of rearing habitat within the project, and by providing velocity refuge during peak winter flows for juvenile salmonids and migrating adults salmonids.

Project Benefit

This project will increase habitat complexity and shelter values while simultaneously improving pool frequency and depth. This effort will help maintain the geographic distribution of coho salmon in a system with historically strong populations of coho salmon and identified biological refugia.
