Description

The project collected, summarized, and analyzed data for three and a half years of fish population monitoring in salmonid-bearing rivers of Mendocino County. Monitoring included: adult, smolt/fry, redd, and carcass. Monitoring was conducted via surveys (redds, carcasses) and by using spawner/redd ratios from already monitored watersheds which provides an estimate of fish numbers. Coho escapement estimates were calculated streams and rivers where annual spawning ground surveys were made. Life cycle monitoring data from complete stations on two streams (Pudding Creek and S.F. Noyo R.) provided estimates of coho productivity (recruits per spawner), smolt abundance, and smolt to adult survival. Smolt abundance estimates were made in three other streams where downstream migrant traps and spawning ground surveys were conducted.

Project Benefit
