Description
The agreement permitted the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to address priority projects in Coastal Oregon and the Willamette Basin through its Western Oregon Stream Restoration Project (WOSRP). The WOSRP was involved in the outreach, coordination, design, grant writing, project permitting, project implementation, project reporting, or monitoring of projects during the reporting period covered by this agreement. Over 100 projects were implemented during the reporting period covered by this agreement. These projects were targeted at improving freshwater habitat conditions for native salmonids and improving overall watershed health including those which encompass: instream wood and boulder placement; road crossing replacement targeted at fish passage improvement and at natural wood and sediment transport; fencing targeted at riparian protection; and the creation of side channels or restoration of natural stream meanders.
Project Benefit
The objective of the WOSRP is to improve fresh water habitat conditions for native salmonids and improve overall watershed health. The project will work with landowners to implement habitat restoration projects by placing large wood and boulders in the stream, improve fish passage and restore riparian habitat.
