Description

Stabilized, reconstructed, re-vegetated, and improved salmonid habitat and passage along a 350-foot long, 30-foot high, non-vegetated creek bank that is actively eroding tons of prime agriculture land causing sedimentation of Santa Rosa Creek.

Project Benefit

Improve habitat by controlling stream bank erosion, establishing native riparian vegetation on the newly created creek bank, and reducing surface run-off and pesticide input into the creek by a buffer zone created along the length of the agricultural field at the top of the creek bank. These measures will ultimately yield long term benefits to steelhead by decreasing sediment input directly into the creek and establishing a vegetative canopy to help reduce stream water temperatures and increase food production at this site.
