Description
Excavated and removed unstable portions of 2 remnant tailings dams and stabilized several segments of stream channel to eliminate the threat of a large volume sediment release into Matthews Creek.
Project Benefit
The project’s overall goal was restoration and protecting of Late Successional Reserve and summer and winter run steelhead trout and Chinook and coho salmon habitat by reducing sediment input to Matthews Creek from unstable tailings dams and eroding streambanks within the project area.
