Description

The original project plan was to construct one self-cleaning screen and diversion structure on Supply Creek to reduce mortality of out-migrant salmonids including chinook and coho salmon (SONCC ESU), along with steelhead trout (Klamath Mountain Province). SHN Consulting Engineers and Geologists Inc., contracted by the Tribe, recommended against the construction of a self-cleaning screen.Using Fiscal 2000 monies, Hoopa Tribal Fisheries constructed and installed two fish screens, one at the North side diversion , and another at a South side diversion.

Project Benefit

The screens will prevent fish from entering the diversion and curtail the occurrence of incidental mortality of out-migrating , naturally spawned juvenile coho salmon (SONCC ESU), chinook salmon, and steelhead trout (Klamath Mountain Province).
