Description
An engineering firm was selected and contracted to design and construct the acclimation facility. Necessary permitting requirements were fulfilled. Although design and construction of the facility was delayed somewhat by the fact that PCSRF funds were not available to the Colville Tribes until December of 2001, construction was still completed in time to stock fish for the 2002 season. Construction of the facility was completed in September of 2002. Approximately 50,000 Carson ancestry spring Chinook were stocked in the pond in October of 2002. After over wintering in the acclimation pond, approximately 40,000 Carson ancestry spring Chinook smolt were released into Omak Creek in April of 2003.
Project Benefit
Protect genetic integrity of endangered Upper Columbia spring Chinook by reducing straying of Carson ancestry spring Chinook.
