Description

The goal of this project was to restore access to two at-risk culverts within the Lolo Creek watershed to allow passage for all aquatic life stages. This was completed by replacing five high priority culverts and removing one culvert within the Lolo Creek watershed to allow passage for all aquatic life stages. The new culverts are sunken below streambed level to allow the culverts to fill with natural substrate. This approach is intended to simulate natural stream conditions and provide passage for all aquatic species, including anadromous steelhead, spring Chinook salmon, and coho salmon.

Project Benefit

Restore fish access to pristine habitats within the Lolo Creek Watershed and reduce sedimentation from at-risk culverts. The outcome of culvert replacements simulates natural stream conditions and provides passage for all aquatic species, including anadromous steelhead, spring Chinook salmon, and coho salmon.
